The Birdroom is brick built, with a tiled roof, it has a 2 inch cavity wall which is lined with cosy wrap, then with 6 inch breeze blocks in the inside, which is plastered, papered, tiled and painted. The door and windows are doubled glazed.

I have a five speed extractor fan fitted. A sink unit with hot and cold running water and a toilet and store-room. I have night lights which are on all the time, fluorescent lighting which is on a time clock and an electric radiator for heating. I have a very good burglar alarm fitted, with smoke detectors wired up to it, with sensors also. The windows have blinds fitted to stop any outside lights disturbing the birds at night.

I have two large inside flights, 10x5 foot each. I only use 18 breeding cages these days, I also have a unit of 8 large cages, with show cages attached for training the young birds in.

I have a radio which is on from early morning till late at night. They are all controlled by time clocks. I have an eight foot high ceiling in the birdroom, which keeps plenty of air circulating around. The room has a tiled floor and is 24ft by 24ft squared, it is built like a bungalow and looks like one down at the bottom of the garden. It was built in 1993, to my own liking. I put a great lot of thought into planning it.

At one time I had very many aviary visits from all over the country, coach loads, the most fanciers I had on one visit was 46. But myself and my wife have gotten too old for these visits now, so we decided to cease them. Although saying that visitors are most welcome if a prior appointment has been made with myself.
